Watch: On Fashion Documentaries

Film and fashion are my bread and butter, they get me out of bed in the morning, are my joie de vivre…you get the point.

So when they meet and make babies, my world stops turning just to watch. A most recent fashion-film lovechild is about legend Iris Apfel, check out the preview here:

What I love about films on fashion is the insider perspective that neither film nor fashion can penetrate alone. Incessantly following the people behind the ad campaigns and runway shows provides a perspective on fashion and style that shows how much more there is to the industry than just making clothes for people to wear. There is a whole philosophy involved.

Here’s a list of my favourite fashion docos, if you’re so inclined to look further.

The September Issue (2009)

Bill Cunningham New York (2010)

Valentino: The Last Emperor (2008)

Tom Ford: Visionaries (2011) FULL VIDEO

Diana Vreelan: The Eye has to Travel (2011)
